As of writing this post the Chiang Mai Flower festival 2022 has not yet been confirmed. But with Covid vaccinations well underway, it is highly likely that this festival will proceed in 2022.
The Chiang Mai Flower Festival will be held on the first weekend of February. For 2022 this should be the weekend covering the dates of 4-6th February
The format of this festival has remained the same over the past 10 years or so and it should follow the same format in 2022. Here is the quick rundown of activities:
Friday 4th
At Buak Had Pubilc Park a small flower and horticulture exhibition will be held. Things will get more interesting come evening when the park will play host to the Miss Chiang Mai Flower Festival beauty contest. There is also a separate beauty contest for an international Miss Chiang Mai Flower Festival beauty. The official opening of the flower festival will be help on stage at around 5 pm and the beauty pageants will get underway at around 7 pm.
Saturday 5th
Saturday will see the highlight of the Festival which is the flower float parade which will begin at 08:00am. There will be around 25 colourfully decorated flower floats this year and the parade will begin by the river at Narawat Bridge. The parade will proceed down Thapae Road before turning left onto Kotchasarn Road, the parade route will then flow the old city moat around to its finishing point at Buak Had Public Park.
Sunday 6th
The flower and horticultural exhibition will continue at Buak Had Public Park.
If you are staying in the city then the festival can be easily experienced by making your way to Buak Had Park or positioning yourself along the Flower Parade route.
